Eight Strategic Policy Pillars

The National Youth Policy establishes eight interconnected strategic goals to empower, protect, and guide youth across all sectors and ecosystems of development in Saint Lucia.

Goal 1

Education and Lifelong Learning

All youth have adequate access to inclusive and quality education as well as enhanced opportunities for lifelong learning, consistent with their needs and aspirations.

Goal 2

Economic Participation

Young people have equitable access to decent employment and livelihood opportunities.

Goal 3

Health and Well-being

All youth have access to programmes and services that allow them to maintain healthy lifestyles and enjoy a good quality of life.

Goal 4

Safety, Security and Peaceful Co-existence

Young people and communities are empowered as agents of peaceful and safe national co-existence.

Goal 5

Participation, Rights and Empowered Citizenship

Young people are fully involved and meaningfully integrated as trusted partners in development and decision-making.

Goal 6

Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) and Mass Media

Young people are equipped as informed users, providers and innovators of information and communication technology (ICT) in order to transform lives and communities in St. Lucia.

Goal 7

The Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction

Youth are empowered as active agents in climate action, disaster risk reduction and resilience building.

Goal 8

Mainstreaming Youth Priorities across all Sectors

Youth development is mainstreamed across all sectors and ecosystems of development.
